Pemberley Manors Summer Soirée

Karen and I were invited to help Ashton Woods Homes celebrate a Summer Soirée at Pemberley Manors Subdivision in Apex, NC, this past weekend. Pemberley has a number of different floor plans and home sizes, including single-family and attached units. We were next door to the model home. (Karen thought it was nice but doesn’t want stairs in her next home.) Ashton Woods provided lunch with dessert and ice cream for everyone who came to look at the model, as well as to everyone who has already moved into the neighborhood.

John quickly twisted up some flowers and planes on sticks so people could see what he offered. One little boy went through three airplanes. He kept popping them in the grass when he tried to land the airplane…

One family requested a matching set of balloon swords and proceeded to conduct a 2 on 1 sword battle in the park.

Dad wasn’t convinced that he could still hula hoop, so John demonstrated how to use the VERY big hoop.

Giant Chickens in the Sky

We were coming home from Washington DC to Goldsboro, having stopped in Smithfield for a trip to JR. Allison said, “Look! There’s a chicken in the sky!” Indeed, there was. The chicken was running across NC 70 between Smithfield and Goldsboro, NC. Moving pretty quickly, too.

A few miles later, we realized why the chicken was running. It had seen what happens to chickens that don’t move quickly enough!

As one of my friends says, “I love my chickens… They’re delicious!”

Fun at Croakerfest 2013, in Oriental, NC

John the Balloon Man and Karen the Hula Hoop Lady entertained children of all ages at Croakerfest 2013. After several weeks of exceptional rain, the weather cleared. Cool breezes kept the temperature bearable, and the festival was lively and active all day. CroakerFest is the prettiest festival we work all year. Some of these pictures explain why we like it so much.

Giant Chicken in Wilson, NC

Posting about the chicken in Rolesville, NC, made me realize I’d never published this image on my own blog. It’s a giant chicken we found in Wilson, NC. That’s my son Sean modeling next to the chicken.
